The results of Middlesbrough and Norwich City ensured automatic qualification for Watford. Middlesbrough, in third, lost a thriller 4-3 to Fulham and fourth-placed Norwich drew 1-1 with Rotherham to hand the onus to Watford.
Watford, who have one game left, have made their work count and will look to end the season on a further winning note.
The teams finishing first and second will be automatically promoted to the Premier League next season and the next four sides will go into playoffs for the last spot in the top flight.
