New Delhi: Arsenal have withdrawn themselves from their race with Chelsea to sign Queen's Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.

On Saturday, Chelsea triggered Remy's £10.5m release clause, which led Harry Redknapp to leave the Frenchman out of his squad that faced Sunderland.

Arsenal, who suffered a blow with Olivier Giroud's injury against Everton last week, made an enquiry for the 27-year-old on Saturday night.

The transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on September 1.

It was being speculated that Lukas Podolski was looking for a move away from North London. That would have left Arsene Wenger with limited options in the striking department.

But now, it appears as though the German would be staying put at the Emirates, which is why the Gunners have eneded their pusuit of Remy.

Chelsea are now favorites to sign the QPR forward after they signed a two-year loan deal for the transfer of Fernando Torres to AC Milan.
