Dwight Gayle lifts resurgent Crystal Palace at Burnley

London: Dwight Gayle scored a double as resurgent Crystal Palace claimed a 3-2 comeback victory at relegation rivals Burnley on Saturday.

Crystal Palace had been trailing 2-0 after the first 16 minutes when Ben Mee and Danny Ings pulled Burnley ahead.

But Gayle got the visitors back on track on 28 minutes, and after a Jason Puncheon equaliser, left it late to seal Palace`s first win at Turf Moor since August 2003.

It maintained new Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew`s unbeaten record after their 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Pardew gave on-loan striker Yaya Sanogo his debut after joining from Arsenal this week, as the French Under-21 striker was one of two changes from last weekend`s win over Tottenham.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche, meanwhile, was looking to bounce back from his side`s midweek FA Cup replay defeat to Spurs.

And the hosts had gotten off to a bright start when Mee headed in from Kieran Trippier`s corner after 12 minutes before their top scorer Ings made it 2-0 after Scott Arfield`s pass four minutes later.

Crystal Palace missed a chance to equalise just before the break when James McArthur`s shot off Sanogo was saved by Burnley keeper Tom Heaton.

A Sanagoo header just before the half-time whistle also went wide.

Gayle got Palace back in the frame after Wilfried Zaha`s cross from the right. And just three minutes back after the break Gayle set up Puncheon who pulled Palace level from 25 yards.

Mee had a chance to pull Burnley in front after 70 minutes but his close range header was saved.

Glenn Murray missed two late attempts before Gayle completed the comeback after he picked up Puncheon`s cross three minutes from time to fire past Heaton.

The victory sent Palace four points clear of the relegation zone and left Burnley one place above the bottom three.
