Welcome to our coverage of English Premier League Gameweek 21. Today, there will be eight matches with an early kick-off between Sunderland and Liverpool. It will be followed by six simultaneous matches (8:30 PM IST), then the Selhurst Park fixture between Crystal Palace and Tottenham starting at 11:00 PM IST.

Burnley 2 - 1 QPR

Chelsea 2 - 0 Newcastle

Everton 1 - 1 Manchester City

Leicester 1 - 0 Aston Villa

Leicester (Konchesky 45+1') 1 - 0 Aston Villa: Referee Michael Oliver is having a field day today. Have sent out two players in the dying moments (90+4') of the match at Leicester. Host Matthew James got a direct sent off, while Ciaran Clark for Aston Villa got two yellows.


West Brom (Berahino 78') 1 - 0 Hull: Saido Berahino continues his good form, scores ninth goal of the season and provided Albion a crucial lead at home.


Everton (Naismith 78') 1 - 1 (Fernandinho 74') Man City: The fight is on at Goodison Park. Within four minutes, Everton responded with a goal, through Steven Naismith. Leighton Baines got full points for the assist.


Swansea (Noble (OG) 74') 1 - 1 (Carroll 43') West Ham: What a pity. AN own goal allowed Swans to return in the match. Unlucky Mark Noble.


 Everton 0 - 1 (Fernandinho 74') Man City: David Silva magic finally paid off, albeit with a bit of luck. From a weaving move inside the Everton box, Silva took a left-footed shot at the goal, but the ball deflected from a defender and Fernandinho heads home with the faintest of touches.


And with that goal, Costa has become EPL top-scorer


Chelsea (Oscar 43', Costa 59') 2 - 0 Newcastle: Poacher in Diego Costa doubles Chelsea's lead at home. Oscar's set-up was perfect. Elsewhere, champions Manchester City are yet to break Everton defence. Still 0-0 at Goodison Park.


Second-half actions already started. Oscar's goal was the first on target for Chelsea, against Newcastle's five.

Leicester (Konchesky 45+1') 1 - 0 Aston Villa: Late goal from Paul Konchesky provide some breathing space for relegation fighting Leicester against Aston Villa at home.


Swansea 0 - 1 (Carroll 43') West Ham: Andy Carroll is not all about headers. The tall striker scores with a brilliant solo effort to keep Hammers' Champions League dream alive.


Chelsea (Oscar 43') 1 - 0 Newcastle: Ivanovic sets-up Oscar to finally break the deadlock at Stamford Bridge. A deserved lead for the league leaders, but Newcastle had their chances too.


Burnley (Arfield 13', Ings 38') 2 - 1 (Austin 33'(P)) QPR: Another goal, this time from the home side. Danny Ings makes it 2 for Burnley after a brilliant solo effort.


Burnley (Arfield 13') 1 - 1 (Austin 33'(P)) QPR: Visitors earned a penalty after Dean Marney tripped Charlie Austin inside the Burnley box. Austin scored from the spot to make it even.


Burnley (Arfield 13') 1 - 0 QPR: Scott Arfield scores at Turf Moor to give home side goal lead against Queens Park Rangers. Brilliant effort by the 26-year-old Scotsman.


FULL-TIME UPDATE: Sunderland 0 - 1 Liverpool. Visiting Reds survived late onslaught from Sunderland to continue their decent run. All three points to Brendan Rodgers's side.

Sunderland 0 - 1 (Markovic 9') Liverpool: Sunderland are in deep deep trouble. Liam Bridcutt, who was booked in the first half gets his second and is sent off. Unlucky for the Scotsman, it looked like a soft chase to Emre Can. 49th minute.


HALF-TIME UPDATE: Sunderland 0 - 1 Liverpool. 

First-half play witnessed four yellow cards dished out - two each to Sunderland and Liverpool. Vergini and Bridcutt for the Black Cats, Borini and Coutinho for the Reds.

Overall, Liverpool had eight attempts on the goal with two hitting the target. For, Sunderland, it's only one.


Sunderland 0 - 1 (Markovic 9') Liverpool: Jordan Henderson hits the far post but moments ago, the referee had called for a hand-ball. Liverpool are in their own zone. Six more minutes of regulation time to the break.


Sunderland 0 - 1 (Markovic 9') Liverpool: Markovic is flying. Earned a corner from his acrobatic effort from outside the box. Good save by Pantilimon. 30th minute.


Sunderland 0 - 1 (Markovic 9') Liverpool: And the Serbian got his goal. It was good play between Gerrard and Borini, before the latter lay the ball in Markovic's path, for a controlled finish.


Sunderland 0 - 0 Liverpool: Close call from the referee. Lazar Markovic  almost got a penalty after Wes Brown tackled him inside the Black Cats box. That was only the first attack of the match, in the third minute.


Time to catch-up for old pals


Raheem Sterling misses the match, learnt he is on a mid-season break, and Brendan Rodgers confirms that the young work-horse will be back soon.

The match at the Stadium of Light will start at 6:15 PM IST. The match will witness now out of bounds Reds captain Steven Gerrard in action. But, today's big match is at Stamford Bridge between league leaders Chelsea and Newcastle. Kick-off time is 8:30 PM IST.

Other fixtures (8:30 PM IST kick-off) are Leicester City vs Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion vs Hull City, Everton vs Manchester City, Burnley vs Queens Park Rangers and Swansea vs West Ham United.
