Jose Mourinho content with current Chelsea squad

London: Jose Mourinho insists there will no major overhaul of his Chelsea squad during the next transfer window as he prepares his side to face Hull in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Premier League leaders` failure to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League had raised expectations Mourinho will seek to strengthen his side with the London club linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

But the Blues manager insists he is happy with his players and expects to make only minor changes at Stamford Bridge when the window opens in July.

Mourinho said: "Our transfer policy doesn`t need a lot of funds, because we don`t need a lot of things. We like our squad, we like our players and with a couple of exceptions we have a young squad.

"And once more, I think our transfer policy will be nice and quiet and will also be a consequence of the players we sell and the funds we make from the players we sell. 

"I think we are getting great credibility from the players we sell, because we sell good players.

"So let`s see what happens. But at this moment if you ask me am I happy with the players I have here, I am happy with the squad I have.

"If you ask me you say zero movement in and out, I say I don`t believe because we always want to improve and there are always a couple of changes to be made.

"But nothing really important. I am not worried about funds because they are fine."

Speaking ahead of his side`s trip to Hull where Chelsea will attempt to consolidate their six-point lead at the head of the table, Mourinho played down his interest in Pogba, insisting the emergence of youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek will strengthen his midfield options next season.

"I don`t think about Pogba or other players. The only thing I can tell you is we look at our midfield players. And between Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires, Ruben, Mikel is injured - we have a good group and I believe a lot in Ruben."

"Next season the squad will be made in a way that Ruben will not be a number, he will compete for a position."

Mourinho insists the title race still involves five clubs despite his side`s commanding lead and game in hand.

But he believes Chelsea`s Champions League disappointment means his side will get stronger during the final run-in.

The Portuguese said: "I think the tendency of this team is to improve until the end of the season.

"Because normally in this period, the tendency is for the teams to accumulate fatigue and stress and play matches in Champions League.

"And at this moment, our situation gives us space to work, space to improve. So I think we will end the season very strongly."

He added: "We are in front. The advantage is not half a body, the advantage is significant. But still a long way to go. So we are there, we are strong, we are confident.

"We believe in our capacity to stay there until the last match. But we know, we know that if we fight against complacency, and the best way to fight against that is to know there is a long way to go, difficult matches, difficult opponents."

Mourinho also denied an article that appeared on the club`s website this week highlighting the "abnormally low" number of penalties awarded to Chelsea in the league this season - two, compared to seven each for Arsenal and Manchester City - will influence referees.

The manager said: "I think it`s just a very objective article. It`s not an opinion article, it is not something that can lead to discussion, it is just the numbers.

"Sometimes you write statistics about how many goals, how many assists, how many goals and things like that.

"And the numbers about penalties every team has in favour or has against is just another stat. It is not open to opinions, it is just numbers."
