No serious harm for Everton winger Kevin Mirallas

London: Scans of Everton forward Kevin Mirallas`s injured ankle have revealed no major damage and he could return to action in two weeks, manager Roberto Martinez revealed on Thursday.

The Belgium international was stretchered off after being fouled by Jordon Mutch in the latter stages of Everton`s 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on Monday, having previously scored.

But tests have shown that he has sustained only minor ligament damage, meaning the 27-year-old could play some part in Everton`s festive fixture programme.

"We have great news as we were very worried after the game because it was an action where you feel the ankle is definitely damaged," Martinez told his weekly press conference.

"The damage is the least it could be. It is an external ligament in his ankle and the way he is as a quick healer, I don`t expect him to be out for too long.

"I wouldn`t rule him out for any of the fixtures over the Christmas period."

Martinez also hailed Scottish forward Steven Naismith, who has signed a three-year contract extension.

"I truly believe he is in the best moment of his career and he has a lot of years at that level in front of him," said Martinez. "For him to extend his stay is incredibly good news for us."
