Pochettino says Spurs still have their shine

London: Mauricio Pochettino has slammed suggestions his Tottenham Hotspur side are boring to watch even though they haven`t scored in five of their last eight games.

This weekend Spurs will be looking to improve on a mediocre run dating back to mid-March that has seen them fail to find the net against Manchester United, Burnley, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Stoke City

Relegation-threatened Hull City are the visitors at White Hart Lane on Saturday at a time when Tottenham`s star striker, Harry Kane, has scored just once in his last six games.

But Spurs manager Pochettino was adamant fans of the north London club had been treated to plenty of entertaining football over the season as a whole.

"When we beat Arsenal 2-1 or when we beat Chelsea 5-3, we were not boring," he said. "In football you always have to accept all opinions but it doesn`t affect our decisions and our way and our plan for the future."

Only four teams have scored more than Tottenham and Pochettino made it clear he was more interested in shoring up a leaky defence come the end of the season.

"We need to be more consistent because in the way that we played, we are offensive, we score a lot of goals," the Argentinian said.

"We have three players with more than 10 goals each -- I think we are the only team as we have Harry Kane, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen.

"Not Chelsea, not Arsenal, not another team has three players. But we need to find this balance better in offensive and defensive, and we need to improve a lot in our defensive situation," the former Southampton manager explained.Major changes are expected after the end of the campaign and one man definitely be leaving White Hart Lane is veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who is retiring at the end of the season, when he will have turned 44.

Pochettino made it clear the United States international was unlikely to be given one last game, however. "We have our emotion, but always in football you need to take a decision as a professional and we always need to show we are professional," he said.

Meanwhile Hull defender Andrew Robertson has described the Tigers` final two matches of the season as `bigger than cup finals`.

After Saturday, Hull face Manchester United at the KC Stadium in the final match of the season.

Steve Bruce`s team are desperate for points, as they start this weekend two points adrift of safety in the final relegation place, with Burnley and QPR already demoted.

"We`ve got two massive games coming up and we`ve just got to train hard to be ready for next weekend and to get the result we need on Saturday," said Scotland full-back Robertson.

"The two games we have left are bigger than cup finals now and will probably be among the biggest games that some of us will play in our career.

"We`re in the relegation zone now so we have to pick up results. That has to start on Saturday, and hopefully we can pick up three points to look up the table again.

"We have confidence in ourselves and confidence that comes from our coaches. We have to take that into the final two games and we`re ready to go."

Emmanuel Adebayor is doubtful for Tottenham because of illness but full-back Danny Rose has been passed fit at a time when Kyle Walker and Ben Davies are sidelined.

Hull will be without Gaston Ramirez for the final two matches after the on-loan Southampton midfielder suffered a hamstring injury. Fellow midfielder Mohamed Diame is set to be out for three months after undergoing a knee operation on Tuesday.

But Nikica Jelavic is expected to start after making consecutive substitute appearances following the striker`s recovery from a knee injury, while Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore and Michael Dawson are in line to face their former club.
