90+4'- Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois is booked for time-wasting.

90+3'- Lambert is sent into a little space down the right, but the striker, can only put in a cross to the far post. Sterling attempts to retrieve the ball, and cuts it back for Allen, who curls a cross into the box towards Borini who heads wide and high.

90+2'- Johnson attempts to turn Azpilicueta down the right, but he stands tall.

90'- Substitution for Chelsea. Costa goes out as Drogba replaces him. Five minuted of added time!

89'- Gerrard shoots from the edge of the penalty area, it clanks into the left hand of Cahill. A close call for penalty but referee doesn't give it.

87'- Borini goes on a busy run-in down the right as that opens Chelsea up, but Lambert falls over to bring the move to an end. Meanwhile, Costa is booked for clipping Johnson’s heels. He is the fourth player to be booked.

85'- Matic robs Sterling and then the latter wins the ball back. This is all happening in the centre midfield area. Liverpool get a free-kick.

83'- Yellow card for Oscar who is booked for a clumsy slide on Johnson.

81'- Lambert, on the left-hand edge of the Chelsea box, whips in a curling cross-cum-shot. That’s not a bother for Chelsea.

80'- Liverpool move down the right, Johnson eventually clipping a little ball into the area. All of Liverpool's front players get excited, in an attempt to get an effort on target, but Chelsea hold firm.

10 minutes plus stoppage time left as Chelsea looking in good spot for clinching the tie.

79'- Substitution for Liverpool! Balotelli is replaced by Lambert.

Meanwhile Costa's goal sees him atop of the EPL highest scorer list this season alongside City's Aguero.

77'- Allen slides a ball inside for Gerrard, who looks for a 30-yard shot. Terry blocks it after a good lunge.

75'- Allen goes down the left. His looped cross is flicked on by Borini at the near post, allowing Henderson to batter a shot from 12 yards, just to the right of goal. It comes off Matic for a corner, which is cleared easily enough.

73'- Liverpool can’t get anything going. Chelsea allowing them to pass it around for a bit, and meanwhile catch Balotelli offside.

70'- A double substitution by Liverpool: Coutinho and Can are off, with Borini and Allen coming on.

69'- Johnson cuts in from the right, in the middle of the park. Matic needlessly hovers him over, and is booked. Yellow card, Matic!

Chelsea have come from behind to lead 2-1! This is title-winning stuff.

67'- GOAL!! Diego Costa.... This is a brilliant goal by the Chelsea forward. Willian, on the edge of the area, sprays a magnificent diagonal ball to Azpilicueta down the left. The full back goes past Coutinho on the touchline, cuts into the area, pulling a cross into the six-yard area. Mignolet can only parry it out to the right-hand side of his box, where Costa stays. He takes a touch and spanks an unstoppable effort into the right-hand side of the net.

65'- Balotelli picks up a silly booking by shoving Oscar in the back. A free-kick from 25 yards now. The set piece is sent sailing to the far post, where Moreno blocks the cross.

62'- Ivanovic stays down after challenging Moreno to a header, but the ball is not put out of play. The hosts subsequently continued but Balotelli was offside from Sterling's pass!

A look at Costa's heroic efforts.

60'- Half an hour into the game and it is still 1-1.

59'- Liverpool are struggling to keep hold of the ball. Coutinho skittles Hazard down the right and breaks for the box, but he’s rightly penalised for clumsiness.

56'- A hesitant Skrtel nearly allows Oscar to go clear down the inside-right channel. Moreno is there to clear the ball. Then Willian steals down the right, but again Moreno deals with the situation. He looks good, Moreno!

54'- Chelsea flood up the other end through Oscar, who drifts in from the left and looks for the bottom right. It’s blocked out for a corner. Meanwhile, Willian has come on for Ramires - as the ball is cleared by Liverpool.

53'- Attempt saved. Raheem Sterling's right footed shot from the left side of the box is saved in the centre of the goal. It was assisted by Philippe Coutinho. Moments later, Eden Hazard's right footed shot from the centre of the box is blocked after a beautiful feed in from Cesc Fàbregas.

51'- Hazard chips a ball down the middle, into the Liverpool box. Lovren heads upwards, and the ball falls for Costa, who has his back to goal on the penalty spot but sends a bicycle kick inches over the bar. Good effort. Lovren has looked bad.

50'- Oscar comes in from the left and looks to steer one into the bottom right. It’s well wide.

48'- Ivanovic is booked for tugging away at Sterling’s shirt, as the winger attempts to release a bit of pressure. He can have no complaints.

47'- Corner by Fabregas as Balotelli clears the ball for safety.

46'- Chelsea start from where they left off. Costa forces Skrtel for a throw-in near Liverpool's defensive half.

We are underway with the second half.

Both teams fancying a win here as it can go anywhere. Second half action in a shortwhile.

So 1-1 at half-time and Chelsea have dominated the latter half of the first 45 minutes so far.

45'- Half-time here!

44'- Dejan Lovren tries a through ball, but Raheem Sterling is caught offside.

43'- Yellow card. First of the game. Sterling goes in the book, as he deliberately stepped across Ramires to stop him breaking down the inside-right area. That’ll be a free kick.

41'- Hazard cuts in from the left and lashes a shot towards the bottom right. Mignolet claims well. Soon the ball’s coming straight back at Liverpool, with Costa winning a corner down the left. Mignolet, races out and punches clear.

40'- Ivanovic skips past Lovren down the right, and that is a  sorry challenge by the former Southampton man. Mignolet does very well to parry the ball as it threatens to creep into the bottom-right post.

38'- A bit of space down the left for Sterling, who nips past Ivanovic and fires a low ball into the area. Balotelli is near at the far post, but the ball doesn’t get that far.

36'- Chelsea has gained control.. Oscar again races down the right, shuttling the ball forward for Ramires, who squares it inside for Hazard on the edge of the box. Hazard shoots, but Johnson blocks again.

35'- Martin Skrtel (Liverpool) wins a free kick in the defensive half after Costa's foul on him.

34'- This is beginning to get a little heated up here. Henderson slides in late on Fabregas and is fortunate not to get a card. Then Costa and Skrtel clash again. Chelsea break up towards the opponent's half and Oscar lays the ball off to the left for Hazard, who takes a step into the area and hammers towards goal, Johnson blocks out for a corner. Chelsea are slowly taking control here.

Meanwhile here is how the goal-line technology shows Cahill's goal past the line.

32'- A foul by Henderson sees Oscar win a free kick in the defensive half.

31'- Can goes for another another whack, 25 yards out down the right. But his shot is blocked at source by Cahill. Up the other end, a weak Mignolet clearance is latched onto by Fabregas, who nearly feeds Costa down the right. The offside flag saves Liverpool.

30'- Half an hour into the game and Chelsea are slowly finding their feet.

Liverpool still don’t look safe at set pieces. Danger signs these.

28'- An attempt is blocked. Diego Costa (Chelsea) hits a left footed shot from the left side of the box. It was assisted by Eden Hazard.

27'- Moreno nicks the ball off Oscar and sets Raheem Sterling away down the left. Sterling looks to curl a low pass inside for Balotelli, who is making his way down the inside-right channel, but messes with it.

26'- Coutinho drops a shoulder and goes on a sublime run down the middle of the park. It’s a determined effort and ends with a low shot towards the bottom left from 25 yards. Courtois sees it off and Cahill kicks it away, for a corner.

24'- Now Cesar Azpilicueta and Mario Balotelli engage in a spot of pushing down the Liverpool right. Once again the referee comes in between them. Naughty times this!

22'- Costa and Skrtel come together as they chase a long ball down the Chelsea left. As they try to beat eachother they get embroiled in some tiff, and the referee’s soon on hand to give a warning.

What an entertaining first 20 minutes we have had. It is going to be a close affair as it looks so far.

21'- Penalty claim! They eke out something from the corner. Gerrard pulls a low one back for Henderson, who miskicks. But Sterling has another chance to shoot. His effort is poor as well, but hits Cahill on the shoulder, allowing all Liverpool players to ask for a penalty. The referee’s not interested. It’s another corner, but that one leads to nothing.

20'-  Johnson finds some time and space down the right. He earns a corner with his cross.

19'- Liverpool taking a little heat out of the game with some more patient passing around the back. They burst forward again through Brazilian Coutinho, who rolls a ball down the inside-left channel for Balotelli. He’s clear, and tucks a lovely effort into the bottom right. But the flag's raised for offside.

18'- Balotelli attempts to spin away from Matic on the near side but Ramires comes back to help him and catches the striker on the foot. The referee awards a free kick to the hosts.

16'- Eden Hazard comes inside from the right, getting the ball onto his left foot and then looking to poke a shot from 20 yards inside Mignolet's near post. He doesn't quite hit the target.

Lovely game this with great speed and high tempo.

14'- GOAL!! Gary Cahill equalises for the Blues. What a response here. Another corner for Chelsea, Ivanovic skipping down the right and winning it off Sterling. Again it is Fabregas with this one too. He hits it deep. Costa heads goal-wards from 12 yards, towards the left side post. Terry heads further. Mignolet does marvellously well to parry it off. But it falls to Cahill, who takes a touch and bundles it over the line. Mignolet very nearly saving that one too, but he can’t keep it out, and the goal-line technology proves the ball was over the line.

13'- Costa bursts into the Liverpool area down the left. He wins a corner. Fabregas takes it, but Gerrard clears the ball with a diving header. Good response by Chelsea here.

11'- That goals has really got Anfield going. Liverpool are moving it around nicely. Chelsea try to respond quickly, Hazard and then Costa probing down the right. A few passes later, and Oscar’s trying to release Hazard into the area down the left. But it ends as a goal kick.

9'- GOAL!! Emre Can gets the goal inside nine minutes. The midfielder is given time to have a go at goal, and once more his effort is deflected. This time it hits Gary Cahill, though, and Courtois was wrong footed. What a start for Rodgers' side.

7'- Henderson plays a short pass to Balotelli and Matic steals in and goes forward at the other end. He keeps the ball superbly before laying it off to Hazard on the left win in Liverpool's half. The Belgian is unable to get the better of Can.

6'- Balotelli finds a little space down the left after being fed with a good long ball. A chance to burst into the box but he checks back and can’t find a team-mate with his cross.

5'- Martin Skrtel rakes a long ball down the inside-right channel to release Mario Balotelli into the area. The Italian is a yard offside, and the flag goes up.

3'- Eden Hazard goes on a good run down the middle, and nearly breaks into the area. He looked good on his speed and control. Dejan Lovren steps in to intercept. Early weakness sign in Liverpool's midfield.

2'- A free kick for Liverpool down the left. Gerrard takes the shot and it’s half cleared, though only to Coutinho, who sends a weak and high looping shot towards goal. Courtois catches it happily.

1'- Liverpool start the game and Chelsea lose possession in the middle of the park. Emre Can hits a shot as John Terry gets a deflection. Liverpool get a corner inside the first minute.

THE TEAM NEWS:

So it's a big match in the Premier League's super Saturday, as Liverpool take on leaders Chelsea. The Blues are enjoying an unbeaten start to the Premier League season and on Saturday they will look to add on to that.

Rodgers appeared content to sacrifice Tuesday's Champions League clash at Real Madrid, leaving the likes of Raheem Sterling and Steven Gerrard on the bench as his side lost 1-0.

Despite playing down the changes, pointing to the seven games they have to play in 21 days, most observers felt Rodgers was targeting the home clash with Chelsea and the chance to get Liverpool's domestic title challenge back on track.

Last weekend's disappointing 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United left Liverpool in seventh place, 12 points behind Chelsea who have won eight and drawn two of their games so far.

It was a 2-0 home defeat by Chelsea in April that put the skids under Liverpool's title challenge, and they need no motivating for a chance to cast off the doubts that have dogged them since the departure of striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Jose Mourinho has assured everyone that Chelsea will not park the bus this time. Diego Costa is fit and with the trio of attacking and midfield flair behind him, Chelsea start the game as favourites. Expect an attacking game of football from both sides.

Mario Balotelli meanwhile, will look for his first EPL goal of the season.
