New Delhi: Sergio Aguero who limped off in Manchester City's Premier League clash against Everton, is expected to be out for a month according to reports. The striker is feared to have suffered a knee ligament injury, which will rule him out for the upcoming crucial Champions League tie against Roma and also the chaotic December fixtures in the Premier League.
City are three points behind Chelsea in the Premier League campaign after 15 matches and the upcoming tests will be very important as they need to keep pace with the Blues.
The injury to Sergio Aguero has handed a big blow to City's push for the title, as well as their bid to qualify for the Champions League knock-out round. City need to win or have a scoreline draw against Roma in Italy, and without their star forward it seems an even bigger test now.
Sergio Aguero has been instrumental to City's fortunes this term. He scored a hat-trick against Bayern Munich on matchday 5 in the Champions League to hand City a life line. He also leads the Premier League goal-scoring list with 13 goals and those have been vital in determining City's position in the table so far. Aguero has scored a total of 19 goals in 20 matches this season. Hence his vision and instincts in front of goal will be a big miss for the English champions.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has been an ardent admirer of Aguero and has also branded the 26-year-old as amongst the best players in the world. He knows in the end it's the title that matters and he would desperately want to defend it this season.
Apart from Aguero, City will also be without suspended Yaya Toure in the encounter against Roma and the latter has also been a monumental figure in City's success in recent seasons. Therefore missing both their vital assets, City's fate hangs in the balance in Europe against the Italian giants.
City has another five matches up till the New Year in EPL and Aguero will most probably watch them from the stands.
