Hodgson asks England players to sing ‘God Save the Queen’ before every Euro match

England manager Roy Hodgson has asked his players to sing the national anthem ‘God Save the Queen’ before every Euro Cup game, which would showcase their pride in flying the England flag.

London: England manager Roy Hodgson has asked his players to sing the national anthem ‘God Save the Queen’ before every Euro Cup game, which would showcase their pride in flying the England flag.
Hodgson reminded the players of their duties on and off the pitch at a special pre-tournament team meeting. The gaffer told the 23-man squad that they are all role models and were expected to set a good example. Previously, some players have stood stony-faced without bothering to sing. “The players have been a credit to England throughout this tournament. A few people at the FA felt they should all be singing God Save the Queen and Hodgson communicated this and it has worked,” a source said. “It’s a big year for the country with the Jubilee and Olympics — it was important the football team played a part,” he added.
