Welbeck up and ready for Euros after scoring maiden goal for England against Belgium

London: Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck, who scored his first goal for England during their friendly match against Belgium at Wembley on Saturday, is confident of performing well at the Euro Cup.

Welbeck became England’s youngest goal scorer since September 2008, and admitted his goal was the perfect send-off for the European Championship finals. England won the international friendly 1-0 against Belgium.

“It’s definitely a special moment for me. To get my first England goal in that way, I’m delighted. It is a massive honour,” The Sun quoted Welbeck, as saying.

“Now I’m looking to build on that performance and get more games under my belt - and more goals,” he added.

Looking ahead to the trip to Poland and Ukraine, he added: “It’s really exciting. There are exciting times ahead. Not just for the younger ones, but the senior players as well.”

“We had plenty of talent across the whole squad and I think everyone is pushing to get on the pitch and show what they can do. That can only be good for England,” he added.
