Ferguson hopes former Man U hero Hughes can turn title their way
London: Hoping for an upset, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has called on Mark Hughes to take revenge on arch rivals Manchester City by masterminding a last-day miracle to send the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.
City took a massive step towards clinching their first title since 1968 as a double from Yaya Toure secured a 2-0 win at Newcastle.
Both Manchester clubs have 86 points, but City has an eight-goal advantage.
Ferguson accepts destiny is no longer in United’s hands but he is clinging to the belief that former United great Hughes can come to his rescue with the Queens Park Rangers.
He said: “QPR need a point and they`re fighting for survival. The whole future of the club could be resting on the game and I only wish Sparky was playing."
“But Mark knows his job all right. He was sacked by City in a very unethical way and he`ll remember that.”
Speaking on the pitch, addressing supporters after the final whistle, Ferguson told them to get ready for “the biggest celebration of their lives” at Sunderland next week.
