New Delhi: World football body FIFA`s President Joseph Blatter on Friday paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his 7 Race Course Road residence here.

Blatter presented a memento to the Prime Minister with FIFA symbol engraved on it.

All India Football Federation President Praful Patel was also present on the occasion.

India`s hopes of hosting the under-17 football World Cup in 2017 has received a major boost after Blatter`s meeting with the Prime Minister. If India is able to host the tournament, it would guarantee its participation for the first time in a world-level event.

This is Blatter`s second visit to the country after his visit in 2007.
