Kiev: The former Dynamo Kiev and Soviet international midfielder Andrei Bal has died suddenly as a result of a blood clot at the age of 56 during a football match of veteran teams, the club reported Saturday.
Bal had played for Dynamo Kiev in 1981-1990. He has won four Soviet titles and four Soviet cups with Ukraine`s capital club.
He was capped 20 times, scoring one goal, for the Soviet national squad.
After hanging up his boots Bal had been coaching Israeli top flight side Maccabi Tel Aviv, Ukrainian clubs Vorskla Poltava, Chernomorets Odessa and Dynamo Kiev.
He has also served as an interim manager of Ukraine`s nationanl side in October, 2012.
