Happy Adriano keen to grab new Brazil chance
Brasilia: Brazil striker Adriano, a likely starter in Wednesday`s World Cup qualifier against Chile, is looking to consolidate his return to soccer after nearly quitting the sport.

Adriano, a substitute in Brazil`s 3-1 win in Argentina on Saturday which secured their World Cup berth, gets his chance due to the suspension of Luis Fabiano and injury to his attacking partner Robinho.

Once one of the most feared strikers in the world, Adriano reconsidered his future this year after losing his passion for the game but, having been released by Inter Milan to join Flamengo, he is returning to his best.

"I`m very happy just to be able to wear the national team shirt again, which is really very important for my self-esteem," Adriano told reporters at Salvador, the match venue on Brazil`s northeastern Atlantic coast.

"I will do everything to grab this opportunity," said the 27-year-old Adriano.

"Everything`s changed. When I arrived (in Brazil in March) I was bad, unhappy, everyone knows about that. Today I`m very happy, very good," said Adriano, who helped Brazil win the 2004 Copa America and 2005 Confederations Cup.
"Today I`m here because I recovered my joy of playing. That`s another turn in my life, another success."

However, Adriano recognised he would have to play very well to win back his place in the Brazil squad from Luis Fabiano, top scorer in the South American qualifiers with nine goals after hitting two against Argentina.

Brazil qualified for next year`s finals in South Africa with three matches to spare. Chile, second behind them in the group, can also book their ticket with a first ever win in Brazil.
