New Delhi: Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the co-owner of Indian Super League's Kerala Blasters, congratulated his team on Monday despite their 1-0 loss to NorthEast United.

The Ricki Herbert-coached NEFC capitalised on the massive home crowd support and emerged victorious as a result of a 45th-minute goal scored by Koke.

Tendulkar, who has been promoting football of late, boosted the morale of his team through his personal account on social micro-blogging site Twitter.

NEUFC's are a young side and their biggest strength is the exuberance of youth.

Meanwhile, the ISL kicked off on Sunday after a glittering opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was attended by several celebrities - Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.
