New Delhi: Colombia star James Rodriguez was given the Golden Boot on Friday for topping the scoring charts at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 23-year-old was presented with his award in Madrid for netting six goals in five matches for his country in Brazil.
However, James says being a part of Real Madrid`s starting eleven in each match is his only objective now. Considering the huge price-tag of £71m on him, the forward will hope to make immediate impact at the Santiago Bernabeu.
His exploits at the World Cup propelled Colombia to the quarter-finals of the tournament. James was considered as a bring young talent before, but he exploded in Brazil, which is why Real Madrid came calling for his signature.
Rodriguez has signed a six-month contract that will keep him in Spain until 2020. Speaking on the prospect of playing for the Los Blancos, he said: "I hope to win titles here. I am now in a club that is always hungry for titles. And I think that if you want to play here you must always keep a high level of performance. And I am prepared for that. I hope I can win everything here."
