Kolkata clubs don`t give coaches time to settle down: Bhutia

Kolkata: India captain Bhaichung Bhutia
today lashed out at Mohun Bagan and East Bengal`s attitude to
change coaches without giving them enough time to settle down.

Reacting to East Bengal`s announcement of hiring the
high-profile former Portuguese assistant coach Manuel
Gonsalves Gomes, Bhutia said, "Any coach is a good coach,
provided you give him time and freedom.”

"But the problem with our Kolkata clubs, Mohun Bagan and
East Bengal, is that they don`t give the coaches time and
freedom to settle down."

Bhutia further said the "Big Two" of the maidan pick the
squad and expect the coaches to produce results.

"The success of Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger pick
their own squad and they have freedom with the squad. But here
the club management picks the squad and expect the coach to
give results. We are way behind in terms of structure," he

Bhutia, who played for East Bengal in the last season,
said he is now a free player and it would be unfair for him to
comment on the stature of Gomes.

"I have met him while I was in Portugal. He will be new
to Kolkata," he said on the sidelines of a promotional event.
