Shillong: Shillong Lajong FC on Sunday humbled table toppers Bengaluru FC 3-0 in a crucial I-League match at the J N Stadium on Sunday.
Uilliams Bolfin opened the score line within the first minute of the second half while Cornell Glen scored the other two goals for Lajong FC upsetting in-form Bengaluru FC in front of 14,000 plus football fans.
Lajong was quicker to punish Bengaluru`s panic-stricken defense line up and keeper Pawan Kumar when Uilliams netted his goal after negotiating slippery ground and bouncy ball with a powerful right footer.
Trininad and Tobago striker Cornell Glen was impressive in his first goal when he found Uilliams on the right flank before he punished Bengaluru with his perfect shots 35 minutes later.
Glen broke Bengaluru`s defense going past two defenders and netting the ball from inside the box.
A minute earlier an unmarked Uillaims breezed in from the right and managed to cross to Tuboi who failed to net when he only had Pawan Kumar in front.
As Lajong deepened Bengaluru`s trouble, their panic stricken keeper Pawan Kumar was sent off
three minutes later when he handled a ball outside the box.
Luck was clearly not on their side on Sunday when another player, Curtis Oasano, was sent off for a bad tackle against Tuboi inside the box.
Glen made no mistake in punishing the table toppers with his penalty as the home team finished the
match in style collecting three crucial points which saw the host trailing the visitors by seven points.
Lajong will play host to Mumbai FC next Sunday at the same venue.
