Madrid: Jose Luis Mendilibar became the second coach of the season to be sacked in La Liga when he was shown the door by Levante.
Mendilibar's sacking late Monday came hours after Cordoba announced their decision to sack Albert Ferrer and replace him with former Valencia and Valladolid boss Miroslav Djukic, reports Xinhua.
Levante took the decision to replace the experienced coach, who replaced Joaquin Caparros over the summer in the wake of a 0-5 defeat at home to Real Madrid which leaves the club in the bottom three with just one win and four points from the opening eight matches of the season.
Under Mendilibar's guidance, Levante have lost six of eight matches played as the players have struggled to adapt to a change of philosophy which saw Mendilibar try to adopt a more expansive style of football than the reliance on a solid defence which has served the club well in recent campaigns.
The search is now on for a new coach who will presumably be prepared to return to that defensive style of football and the club aims to have them in place for next weekend's trip to play Celta Vigo.
