Manchester City playmaker David Silva in line for return against Bayern

London: Manchester City playmaker David Silva could make his return from injury in his side`s final Champions League group fixture at Bayern Munich next week, manager Manuel Pellegrini revealed on Friday.

The Spanish attacking midfielder has missed City`s last five matches due to a calf injury.

Asked when he might be ready to return to action, Pellegrini told a press conference: "Maybe on Monday he will be ready.

"We`ll see the way he works tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday, and I will then decide next week (if he can feature against Bayern)."

City, who visit Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, have already secured their place in the Champions League knockout phase.

Pellegrini also said that he expects captain Vincent Kompany to retain his place for the trip to St Mary`s after making his return from a two-month injury lay-off in Wednesday`s 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion.

"Vincent is OK. We will see if he can play two matches in less than three days. But he is OK," said the Chilean.

"It is not an easy decision, but I think he finished the last game without any problem.

"We will wait a few hours more to see that he has made the perfect recovery and I will decide. But I don`t think it is a great risk for him to play another game."

As well as Silva, City will also be without centre-back Matija Nastasic and forward Stevan Jovetic, both of whom have calf problems, for the Southampton game.
