Manchester: Ashley Young believes that Manchester United can overturn the 3-2 deficit against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday after being beaten in the first leg at Old Trafford.
Praising Bilbao for their performance, the winger says that despite their impressive performance, United can still register a win.
“Bilbao were an impressive team. We found that out last week. We had watched videos of them and seen how they played. I am sure if we are on our game 100 percent, we can go there and get the win we need.” he was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
"It is unusual that we find ourselves in this position [losing the home leg] but it is a very high-spirited camp," explained the England international. "There is a great team spirit here and everyone is full of confidence, especially with the way things have gone of late and everyone is looking forward to Thursday,”
"Our form in general makes us believe we can score wherever we play. Our attacking play has been fantastic and we believe we can score the two goals we need. Everybody has been chipping in with the goals of late. Whoever scores the goals, as long as we get two that is all that matters," he added.
Athletic won 3-2 in the first leg, with United losing successive European home games for the first time since 1996.
Wayne Rooney put United in front, but Fernando Llorente, Óscar de Marcos (71) and Iker Muniain (90) struck back, with Old Trafford relieved when Rooney converted a penalty two minutes into added time.
