Manipur, West Bengal seal semis berths

Jamshedpur: Manipur, runners-up in the
previous edition, and West Bengal stormed into the semi-finals
of the women`s football event of the National Games after
scoring crushing wins over Assam and Tripura respectively here
on Wednesday.

Manipur mauled Assam 10-0 while West Bengal annihilated
Tripura 26-0 at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Reigning champions Orissa have already made it to the
last-four stage. Haryana and Tamil Nadu will clash today while
hosts Jharkahnd will take on Orissa tomorrow to grab the last
available semifinal spot.

Both Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu have three points each.

Orissa topped Group `A` with two wins -- against Tamil
Nadu and Haryana -- pocketing six points.

Manipur girls kept Assam on their toes and dominated the
proceedings right from the kick off as it surged ahead in the
sixth minute through long-ranger off S. Rina Roy Devi, who
later added two more goals, (43rd and 59th minutes).

Assam girls did their best but Manipur foiled all their

Besides Rina, Manipur forward E Bindyarani Devi (20th,
