New Delhi: Atletico Madrid`s President, Enrique Cerezo has said Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus turned down a big money summer move to Manchester United.
His comments came after he was asked whether the La Liga champions were pushing for a move for the German star. Cerezo also said it was not possible to sign the 25-year-old especially after he decided not to pursue a move to Old Trafford.
The Telegraph quoted Mr. Cerezo saying: "I don’t know where the Marco Reus rumour came from. It’s a player who, at this time, is impossible to us. Look, he had an offer for a lot of money from Manchester United and he has not gone… we will not sign him with a lesser offer."
Reus did not make it to the World Cup winning German squad due to an injury. His consistent performances for Borussia have made him one of the most sought after footballers in European football.
The winger scored 23 goals and provided 23 assists during the 2013-14 Bundesliga season, which made him the most important player at the club along with Robert Lewandowski.
With Lewandowski gone to Bayern, following in the footsteps of Mario Gotze, Jurgen Klopp cannot afford to lose Reus at any cost.
