Panaji: I-League Champions Dempo Sports Club have roped in Liberian midfielder Johnny Menyongar to complete their foreign quota for the rest of the season.
He has been signed on loan from Shillong Lajong FC and is likely to feature in Dempo`s match against Prayag United in Kolkata tomorrow, a Dempo official said. Johnny, who has been training with the team for the past six weeks, will replace former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur player Rohan Ricketts who fell apart with the coach Armando Colaco for tweeting against him. "Johnny is very excited to have signed up with Dempo and is looking to play under the a coach who plays a very modern style of football", the official said. The 32-year-old has been around for a while in Indian football and put up a reasonable performance in the midfield. He was a regular for Shillong Lajong FC but mysteriously fell out of favour with English coach Desmond Bulpin. PTI
