New Delhi: Defending champions Government Chawngfianga Middle School (Mizoram) thrashed Birjhora Higher Secondary School (Assam) 5-0 to enter the semi-finals in the U-14 category of the Subroto Cup Inter-School Football Tournament, here Sunday.
For the Mizoram school, JH Lallawmima struck twice (4th min, 32nd min) while Lalnunhlua (10th min), Lalthansanga (27th min) and Ramhlunchhunga (37th min) scored a goal apiece.
Joining the Mizoram team in fray were the Greenwood High School boys from Nagaland and the two will now meet in the first semifinal, to be played on Tuesday.
The Nagaland high school, after toiling hard for most of regulation time, downed NCC (Maharashtra) in extra time for a 3-1 verdict.
Earlier, in a Pool E match Nilamani English School from Manipur thumped local outfit, the Air Force School 9-0. The Delhi school boys could not match the speed and guile of the Manipuri boys and surrendered meekly.
