Kolkata: Mohun Bagan defeated Chirag United 1-0 to annex the Calcutta Football League (Premier Division) title for the 29th time, at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Edeh Chidi scored the all important goal from a penalty.

In the 63rd minute the referee Minanshu Bhattacharya awarded a penalty in favour of Mohun Bagan after Ryuji Sueoka was brought down by Chirag defenders inside the box.

When the referee flashed the red card at Denson Devdas he tried to kiss him on the forehead as Chirag United`s Eduardo and Joshimar pushed and shoved him before the police intervened.

The referee then showed Eduardo a red card as Chirag were reduced to nine players.

After about 10 minutes of disruption, the match resumed with Chidi scoring from the spot to help Mohun Bagan clinch their first title this season.

The nine-man Chirag tried in vain for an equaliser, which would have helped them win the title with a better goal difference.

Towards the end, Ashim Biswas had a chance from the left flank, but his shot went awry.
