Kolkata: Mohun Bagan defeated JCT 2-0 JCT in their return leg I-League match at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Sunday to climb up to the fifth position in the team standings.
After a goalless first-half, Mohun Bagan scored through Satish Kumar (60th minute) and susbstitue Ashim Biswas (69th) to notch up the victory.
By virtue of the win, Mohun Bagan moved up to fifth spot with 34 points from 25 matches while JCT continued to languish in the relegation zone with 24 points from 25 games.
JCT were impressive in the first-half as they stopped Mohun Bagan to take the lead but conceded two quick goals in a space of nine minutes after change of ends.
Both the goals were resulted from Snehashish Chakraborty`s corners.
Satish got the possession in the left flank after JCT defence failed to clear the ball properly and gave home team the lead with a left-footed curling strike.
Nine minutes later, substitute Biswas completed the score-line after cashing in on a defensive lapse by JCT.
