New signings has given Churchill good balance: Ferrao

Panaji: The induction of players from teams like Mahindra United, Viva Kerala and Sesa Football Academy has given Goan side Churchill Brothers a good balance, club manager Denzil Ferrao said.

"With signing of new players, the team which is presently training under assistant coach Usman Hussain is stronger than last year," Ferrao said.

"Although we have lost players in the midfield like Ogba Kalu Nnanna, Nascimento Silveira, Reisangmi Vashum and Naoba Singh, we have filled the gap by signing in players from Mahindra United, Viva Kerala and Sesa Football Academy.”

"On the whole the team is well balanced and with good bench-strength we hope to win the I-League title which we lost to Dempo," he added.

He said that newly appointed coach of the side Vincent Subramaniam, who has already arrived here, will take charge of the team from Monday.

Churchill, who finished runner-up in previous I-League season, have roped in players like Denzil Franco, Steven Dias, Mohammed Rafi (Mahindra United), D Ravanan, M P Sakeer (Viva Kerala), Hardeep Singh (TFA), Israel Gurung, Savio Caneiro (Sesa Football Academy), Chitrasen Singh (Salgaocar) and former Pune FC and Mahindra defender Rauf Khan.

Among the foreigners, Churchill have signed in defender Siavash Saminia (Salgaocar), Koko Sakibo (Vasco), who will partner Odafe Okolie upfront, and would also be acquiring the services of a Serbian central-midfielder Nenad Stojakovic who last played in Vietnam`s V-League.
