Santos: The Brazilian club`s vice-president has confirmed the youngster`s interest in a move to Camp Nou but is expecting a massive counter-offer from Real Madrid
Santos vice president Odilio Rodrigues has confirmed that Neymar has told the club he wants to join Barcelona.
The Brazil international has long been linked with a move to Camp Nou and is set to fly to Spain for talks with the Blaugrana in July after the Confederations Cup.
Other clubs, including the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, are reported to be monitoring the 21-year-old`s situation at the Sao Paulo outfit but Rodrigues says the player is intent on a move to Catalunya.
"Neymar has told us that he wants to sign for Barca," Rodrigues told SER Esports.
"There are other proposals but he has a preference for Barca. There is no official Madrid proposal for Neymar, but we know that this offer will come."
Rodrigues has also claimed that Barcelona have not made a sufficient offer for the player, but stressed that negotiations are ongoing.
"We held conversations in Spain with the Barca board of directors and there are ongoing talks but nothing has been decided.
"I like to talk to Sandro [Rosell, Barcelona president] and Raul [Sanllehi, director of football], they are very pleasant people and I was very well received in Spain.
"But the negotiations need to continue because the first bid we were offered was not enough. We know that Madrid have a bid and will be presenting it soon, but I haven`t talked to [club president] Florentino Perez.
"We know that the athlete`s opinion is important. What we have to do is to find a way to unite the best offer with the player`s interest."
