Manchester: Paul Scholes seemed to justify his shock comeback at the Old Trafford by scoring a goal in almost two years for United on Saturday.
Manchester United drubbed Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at home leaving them trailing their Premier league rivals, Manchester City, at the top only on goal differences.
After Wayne Rooney had missed a penalty, Scholes gave United the lead in only his second appearance since coming out of retirement.
Welback scored the second at 75 minutes to extend the lead while Carrick seal the victory at 83.
After a frustrating first half that saw United dominating but failing to find the net, Rooney tapped one to Scholes during the stoppage time and the veteran netted his 151st goal for United.
The win will surely boost the confidence at Old Trafford after two successive defeats which will be crucial for the upcoming tough fixtures.
