Nicosia: Porto aims to step up its game and take over the Champions League Group G lead from APOEL when the sides play in Nicosia on Tuesday.
Porto is coming off a 3-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira in the Portuguese league and coach Vitor Pereira said that last year’s Europa League champion wanted to serve notice about its intentions for Tuesday’s game.
APOEL earned a surprise 1-1 draw against Porto in the Dragao earlier this month to go top of Group G with five points. Porto and Zenit follow with four and Shakhtar is last with two.
Despite a lackluster performance in a scoreless draw against Anorthosis Famagusta on Friday, APOEL is counting on home advantage to again surprise Porto and inch closer to the competition’s knockout stage.
