Premier League struggler Blackburn backs Kean

Blackburn: Struggling Premier League side Blackburn has apparently backed manager Steve Kean, amending the under-pressure coach’s contract despite his team’s poor start to the season.

Rovers did not go into detail about the change but says “following recent media speculation Blackburn Rovers FC can confirm a revision to manager Steve Kean’s existing contract has been completed.”

British media had reported that Blackburn’s Indian owners removed a clause in his contract that would have made him easier to fire.

With Rovers next to last in the standings after just one win from 12 matches, fans have protested against the owners and Kean—even hiring a plane to trail a banner over Ewood Park stadium calling for Kean’s exit.
