Kolkata: President Pranab Mukherjee will be the chief guest on reigning I-League champions Mohun Bagan's 125th year celebration, which will be held on August 22.
The green and maroon brigade had been celebrating their annual day on July 29, their most important date in the history to mark their historic IFA Shield triumph over East Yorkshire Regiment on the same day in 1911.
But they had to alter the date after the President gave his consent to attend the special 125th year celebration this year.
"President has given his consent to grace the occasion. We're making best possible arrangements to make it big this time," Mohun Bagan general secretary told reporters about the annual ceremony which will be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
The President will also felicitate the reigning I-League champions beside giving away the club's highest honour -- Mohun Bagan Ratna -- to Arumay Nigam and posthumously to Karuna Shankar Bhattacharya.
The function, which will be open to Mohun Bagan members only, will also have a Bollywood flavour as Mohun Bagan have invited celebrities of the Hindi film industry, Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra said today.
"The function is only open for the members and they expect about 12000 in attendance," Mitra said.
