Rangers to follow Chhetri, Jeje`s progress, says coach

New Delhi: Scottish soccer giants Rangers` manager Ally McCoist says the club will continue to monitor the performance of India`s star strikers Sunil Chhetri and Jeje Lalpekhlua who returned after a six-day trial at Murray Park.

The duo reached Glasgow last Friday to train with the first-team squad of the Scottish champions and also took part in a practice match on Wednesday, which was watched by McCoist and his assistant Kenny McDowall.

Chhetri and Lalpekhlua have now joined the Indian team which is participating in the SAFF Championship here, but the club is yet to arrive at a decision regarding the duo`s future with the Scottish champions.

"Sunil and Jeje did fine and showed up well in training. They showed some lovely touches and adapted to the different surroundings they experienced. They are away back home but we will keep monitoring their situations and keep monitoring their performances back home," McCoist said.

"They will continue to play for their sides in India and it was great to have them both working with us as they are talented boys. It was a good experience for them and I think they certainly enjoyed it. We enjoyed having them here too," he added.

The trial clashed with Tuesday`s friendly against Hamburg but due to visa issues, the duo was unable to travel to Germany with the rest of the squad.

"Kenny and I watched them playing in the match and it was a really enjoyable game. They did absolutely fine," McCoist was quoted as saying by the `Ibrox Edition`.
