Munich: Dutch international Arjen Robben has exended his contract with European champions Bayern Munich until 2017, the Bundesliga leaders announced on Wednesday.
The Bavarian giants, who lead the German table by a whopping 23 points can wrap up a 24th domestic title this weekend with victory at Mainz, a campaign in which Robben has again been key to their ambitions.
"I am delighted the contract is signed and I can continue the quest for the title with Bayern," said the 30-year-old offensive midfielder who joined the club from Real Madrid in 2009.
"It`s been five years that I`ve been at the club and I`m going to continue for another three," said Robben, who scored the winner in the Champions League final last season against Borussia Dortmund.
"There is no greater proof of the family environment here and the incredible pleasure I get from this team," added the 2010 World Cup finalist.
"Arjen is a super player who showed his importance for Bayern during the Champions League final at Wembley," said club boss Karl-Heinze Rummenigge in reference to the 2-1 victory over their Bundesliga rivals Dortmund.
Bayern are also in the Champions League quarter-finals and will know their opponents when the draw is made in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday.
