Roberto Mancini says owners happy with City’s progress
London: Under pressure Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has claimed the owners of the club are happy with the work he has done in the past three years despite a disappointing season so far.

Out of Europe and losing ground in the title race after three winless games in a row, the FA Cup is the last realistic chance of silverware for City.

However, Mancini insists his record stands up to scrutiny by anyone, including his boss Sheikh Mansour, and the prospect of being replaced by Jose Mourinho, who this week said he would be back in the Premier League soon, leaves the Italian unfazed.

Mancini speaks regularly to City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, right-hand man to billionaire Mansour, and insists the Abu Dhabi owners are happy with him, despite the season’s disappointments.

The Italian claims the pair recognize the progress City have made under him since taking over in December 2009, and he has delivered the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League football.

Mancini said he speaks with Khaldoon every week, adding he is like him and when they lose, he has his mentality because he is upset and disappointed, but claimed this is normal. Mancini added after you lose, you cannot be happy for 24 hours but after that you need to think about the future.

The former Inter Milan manager said they have a good relationship, and at this moment they aren’t happy because when you lose you can’t be happy, but he said they are happy with his job over the three years.
