Rooney, who missed United’s pre-season tour of the States last summer due to an extended break in the aftermath of England’s dismal tournament in South Africa, appeared lean, sharp and clinical as he led Sir Alex Ferguson’s team to an emphatic victory, a daily reports. Rio Ferdinand provided the only negative for United by limping off with an injury to his right ankle following a 90th minute challenge by O’Brian White, but the England defender appeared untroubled at the end of the game.Seattle; last year’s Western Conference champions and currently second to David Beckham’s LA Galaxy this season, were expected to give United a sterner test than Steve Nicol’s Revolution managed in Boston.
