Spanish coach Ramos rejects offer to stay with Dnipro
Kiev: Spanish coach Juande Ramos has rejected the offer of a new contract to stay at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk because of the tense political situation in Ukraine, ITAR-TASS news agency reported Thursday.
The 59-year-old, who has previously coached the likes of Real Madrid, Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur, led Dnipro to second place behind Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian top flight in the season just finished, as high as they have ever finished.
That was enough for them to earn a place in next season`s Champions League qualifying rounds, but Ramos will not be there.
He took over Dnipro in 2010 on a four-year deal, but his family`s desire to leave the country rocked by an ongoing political crisis was behind his decision to depart, according to ITAR-TASS.
