Liverpool: Liverpool had two players sent off in a 4-0 Premier League trouncing at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday as their early season optimism evaporated in a woeful performance.
Luka Modric`s superb shot gave Tottenham the early lead and the home side sealed the points after the break with goals from new strike partnership Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor after Liverpool had been reduced to nine men.
Former Arsenal striker Adebayor then endeared himself to the Spurs fans with a second goal in stoppage time to condemn Liverpool to their biggest Premier League defeat for eight-and-a-half years.
Charlie Adam was the first man to see red for the visitors after 28 minutes for a mis-timed tackle on midfielder Scott Parker which resulted in a second booking, while Martin Skrtel went in the 63rd minute for a clumsy foul on Gareth Bale.
Tottenham`s second victory of the season, after they lost their opening two matches, lifted them to 11th place with six points. Liverpool are in eighth spot with seven points after a second successive league defeat.
Later on Sunday, leaders Manchester United host Chelsea (3 p.m.) while Manchester City, who like United have maximum points from their opening four games, were away to Fulham and Sunderland were hosting Stoke City
