New Delhi: In an attempt to quell all rumors and speculation, super agent Jorge Mendes has ruled out the possibility of his client Cristiano Ronaldo ever returning to Manchester United.
Mendes also stated that the Portuguese superstar will see out his career at Real Madrid.
He also made an emphatic statement saying Ronaldo was the greatest footballer of all time, and that his number 7 should be retired as a mark of respect.
"I believe that Cristiano will finish his career at Real Madrid. He’s happy at the club and is still keen to achieve more success in Madrid. I think they should (retire no. 7). I respect great players like Raul and Di Stefano, but none of them compare to Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano is the greatest ever. It'll be impossible for anyone to emulate him in the future. There’s just such a gulf between him and second best,” said Mendes, speaking to Brazilian media giant Globo Esporte.
The 29-year-old is in red hot form this season and is the favorite to win the Ballon d'Or award in January, his third overall and second in a row. The striker has netted 32 times all competitions for Los Blancos so far season, including 25 of them in the La Liga.
Without doubt, the news coming from one of Ronaldo's closest friend and long-time agent is bound to disappoint the fans of Manchester United.
Ever since Ronaldo left the Old Trafford club for Madrid, United fans have been living in hope of a possible return of their prodigal son.
However, with his record-breaking run in Spain, it appears unlikely of Ronaldo's fairy tale return to the club where he announced himself to world football.
