New Delhi: Three under-14 footballers - Mohamed Habib, Suman Dutta and Lazim Ali - were on Saturday selected through Mahindra Youth Football Challenge to train with the Celtic Football Club in Glasgow, Scotland for ten days in mid-August this year.
The Mahindra Youth Football Challenge 2012-13, Intercity tournament concluded in Bangalore recently.
The names of the selected players were announced by P N Sankaran, Director, Operations Procam International, the promoters of the event, in the presence of four coaches from Celtic Football Club.
Mohamed Habib and Suman Dutta (both from Kolkata) and Lazim Ali (from Kerala) were selected on the basis of their performances in the tournament, involving the champion schools from six cities, followed by a four-day camp involving the best 22 players.
The selected three will enjoy all the facilities available to junior players at the club.
Mufaddal Choonia (General Manager, Corporate Strategy, Mahindra Group), said, "We have aimed to promote football at the grass roots level and provide a platform for Under-14 boys to showcase their skills and play the game in a competitive and high class environment. Hopefully, they have learnt something new and leave with lifelong memories."
