London: Former England footballer Tim Sherwood has said he is proud and honoured to be appointed as Tottenham Hotspur`s new head coach.
The comments from Sherwood came hours after taking his first training session as permanent boss. Spurs confirmed the news last night that the 44-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season, the Mirror reports. The club`s chairman Daniel Levy said that Sherwood `has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward`. Speaking for the first time since his new role was confirmed, Sherwood told Tottenham`s official website that it is a proud moment for him. Sherwood was brought in as caretaker manager after Villas-Boas was sacked earlier this month, losing in the Capital One Cup to West Ham in his first game in charge, the report added.
