Tripura CM seeks funds for sports infrastructure in NE

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today appealed to the central government to sanction adequate funds for the north eastern states to build up proper sports infrastructure.

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today appealed to the central government to sanction adequate funds for the north eastern states to build up proper sports infrastructure.
"The region is backward and was not properly nursed to develop it. As a result of that there is dearth of adequate sports infrastructure in the region. We want more funds be given to the region for building proper sports infrastructure," Sarkar said after inaugurating the 59th National School Football U-17 Boys Championship here. He said there is a number of sports talents in the region but they could not be properly nurtured due to paucity of funds.
