New Delhi: East Bengal stopper Uga Okpara was slapped with a two-match suspension on Wednesday and a fine of Rs 20,000 while Mohun Bagan forward Asim Biswas` suspension has been extended by one match by the AIFF disciplinary committee.
The two were involved in a brawl during an I-League derby between the two sides in which East Bengal Coach Trevor Morgan also took part.
Mohun Bagan have also been slapped with a fine of Rs 50,000, under article 53 of the AIFF disciplinary code, for earning eight yellow cards, while their opponents were fined Rs 25,000 for getting four yellow during the high-voltage match.
Since Morgan has already undergone suspension for one match, the committee has requested the AIFF to send a letter to him to condone his actions and ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
"Since his (Okpara`s) action has tarnished the image of an official, he is liable for action under section 3 article 54 of the AIFF disciplinary committee code," the AIFF stated in a press release here on Wednesday.
The meeting was presided by disciplinary committee chairman, NA Khan, and attended by Vice-chairman Rakesh Bakshi, and members Uma Prasad Mukherjee and DS Sivasamy at the Football House here.
