New Delhi: Arsene Wenger is closely monitoring the situation in Paris where maverick striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is understood to be on his way out, as per a report on Tuttomercatoweb.

Zlatan is said to be unhappy at Paris Saint-Garmain and has been linked with a move to several clubs including AC Milan, Liverpool and Chelsea.

With one year remaining on his contract, the report claims Laurent Blanc is willing to sell the forward for fee in the region of £11 million.

The 33-year-old scored 30 goals in 35 appearances as PSG completed the domestic treble and reached the quarter-finals of Champions League.

Considering the poor form of Frenchman Olivier Giroud, the Gunners are expected to add to their options in that department.

It has been widely agreed that the club needs a top striker to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title.

Club legend Thierry Henry said the club needed to buy "a top, top quality striker to win this league again. I think Giroud is doing extremely well. But can you win the league with him? I wouldn't think so."

Arsenal's 3rd place finish in the league this season was largely due to the individual brilliance of Alexis Sanchez. Hence pairing up the Chilean with a striker of Zlatan's pedigree could offer Wenger with an ideal strike force.

However Zlatan and Wenger share a bit of history back in the day when the striker was playing for Swedish club Malmo.

“Arsene gave me the famous red and white jersey - the No 9 shirt with Ibrahimovic on it and I was so pleased I even posed for a picture wearing it.

“It was a fantastic moment for me. Arsenal had a great team then and here was an Arsenal shirt made just for me.

“So then I waited for him to convince me that I should join Arsenal. But he didn't even try.

“He never actually made me a serious offer, it was more, ‘I want to see how good you are, what kind of player you are. Have a trial’.

“I couldn't believe it. I was like, ‘No way, Zlatan doesn't do auditions’.

“I thought ‘You either know me or you don't and if you don't know me you can't really want me’.”
