United must get back on track quickly, says Evra

London: Patrice Evra has warned his Manchester United team-mates they will fail to challenge for silverware this season unless they quickly rediscover their consistency.
Evra is frustrated that United`s Premier League title defence has been derailed by their sloppy start to the domestic campaign. While United have fared well in the Champions League, they have already fallen eight points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal after defeats to Liverpool, Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion, as well as a disappointing draw against Southampton last weekend. David Moyes` side, who host Stoke on Saturday, may be unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, but French left-back Evra is adamant United won`t be back to their best until they embark on a long winning run. "The problem is not that we are doing badly, it is because we are not doing things well enough," Evra told MUTV. "We have lost our consistency and we need to find it really quickly if want to win every trophy. We can`t win one game and draw the next one, or lose it. "Now every game is important. We have to make sure we win against Stoke. "We want to win two or three games in a row but it is when we win 10 games in a row, that I will say Manchester United are back in business. At the moment we are not." Some critics claim United`s players have struggled to adapt to the tactics and managerial style of Moyes since he arrived from Everton to replace the retired Alex Ferguson, but Evra is convinced the coaching set-up is not the problem. Instead, he believes the solution to United`s problems is to go back to basics and grind out wins rather than try to overwhelm opponents with passing football. "The training sessions are very good. The staff are very good," he said. "I am not lying to people when I say we are doing the right things. I trust what we are doing and what the new manager has set up. It is just the results that are missing. "We have to make sure, even if we do it in a bad way or an ugly way, we win games. "We need to win those 10 games. We don`t have any choice. After that we can play the beautiful football."
