Unrepentant Edmilson replies to the showcause notice

East Bengal’s Brazilian striker Edmilson Marques replied to the showcause notice but refrained from apologising for his fight with coach Subhas Bhowmick and teammate Saumik Dey.

Kolkata: East Bengal’s Brazilian striker Edmilson Marques today replied to the showcause notice but refrained from apologising for his fight with coach Subhas Bhowmick and teammate Saumik Dey.
“Edmilson has defended himself in the letter. He has said, ‘What I have done is nothing wrong’,” East Bengal’s football secretary Santosh Bhattacharya said. East Bengal executive committee will soon meet to discuss the next course of action against the Brazilian soon, Bhattacharya added.It is believed that East Bengal would release the player who is in his last year of contract with the club. East Bengal on Friday showcaused Edmilson who had a spat with Bhowmick that led to a scuffle with fellow player Saumik inside the dressing room. East Bengal have refrained him from joining practice and the Brazilian has been omitted from their Durand Cup squad. An ugly incident between the coach and the player after Edmilson was fouled by Bhowmick during a practice match. He also reportedly beat up Saumik in the dressing room. East Bengal had a disastrous start to the season, crashing out of IFA Shield after two consecutive losses. Bureau Report
