Veterans Football Club release book on FIFA WC

With the FIFA World Cup just three days away, the city`s Veterans Football Club (VFC) has come up with a book on the quadrennial sporting extravaganza beginning in South Africa on Friday.

New Delhi: With the FIFA World Cup just three days away, the city`s Veterans Football Club (VFC) has come up with a book on the quadrennial sporting extravaganza beginning in South Africa on Friday.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken released the book titled `Soccer Diary`, which describes the history of World Cup, besides providing vital information on the teams, coaches and players of the tournament. "I hope the football lovers in the country will love this book as it gives some vital information of the sport," Maken said.Compiled by secretary of the VFC, Hem Chand, who is also the vice president of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA), the book will be available in three languages -- English, Hindi and Urdu. "On behalf of the Veterans Club, we published such informative books in the last three World Cups," said Hem Chand."Our only aim is to help the soccer lovers follow the World Cup in a better way," he added. The event was also attended by Olympian footballer Hakim, I-League CEO Sunando Dhar, famous sport commentator Jasdev Singh and DSA secretary N K Bhatia. PTI
