Wayne Rooney tops Premier League`s richest footballers list

London: Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has topped the latest rich list of English-born Premier League stars.

Rooney is worth a whopping 45 million pounds, a poll by Wealth-X revealed. According to the Daily Star, the 28-year-old rakes in around 250,000 pounds a week in wages. He also trousers a fortune through deals with Nike and book publisher HarperCollins. Second on the list is Rooney`s Red Devils teammate Rio Ferdinand , 35, with a whopping 37 million pounds. Ferdinand also has other business ventures, including the plush Rosso restaurant in Manchester. Third on the list is Chelsea`s Frank Lampard, 35, who is worth 31million pounds. Then follows Blues captain John Terry and current England and Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, 33, who have 29 million pounds. Joe Cole, 32, Ashley Cole, 32, Michael Carrick, 32, Ashley Young, 28, and James Milner, 27, make up the rest of the top 10, the report added.
